Internship Activities 2

Back to work..

After the long weekend, finally I had to back to work. Tuesday, 26 February 2019 as usual, I woke up, cooking and went to the office. When we arrived at the office, mam Dulce gave me Filipino food. It was Bibingka, a type of rice cake native to the Philippines. This is traditionally made from galapong (milled glutinous rice), coconut milk, margarine, and sugar. During dawn masses on Christmas season, side street vendors are a common sight preparing and selling this delicious rice cake.

I had a new assignment in the office. I had to make a checklist for auditing some department because I’ve already learnt about it the day before. Huuuh… It was my first time to make it, hopefully it wasn’t wrong haha.. I had to make an audit checklist for TARA-ON (Restaurant) and MIS (Management Information System). To make the audit checklist we had to refer to the Procedure Manual of every department and the ISO 9001:2015. I am done it until the lunch time and after that, mam Dulce checked what I had made. After all of the checklists checked, I went with mam Dulce to do the auditing to the TARA-ON and MIS. I was very nervous because it was my first time and I have to know all of about the department which I audited. But, actually the one should be nervoused was the auditee (the people will be audited) because they have to prepare their department as suitable with the ISO 9001:2015. And Alhamdulillah.. I could pass all of it, I did good I think and I’ve given my best haha.. everythings ran well…

After, me and mam dulce done with the audit, mam dulce invite me to bought  some Philippines street food (because the location of TARA – ON and MIS department is far from our department, so we went there by motorcycle and it’s made us easier to go to another place such as buy some snacks hehe). We bought the kwek wkek (one of the variation of Tokneneng,  a tempura-like Filipino street food made by deep-frying orange batter covered hard-boiled eggs). Kwek kwek or Orange eggs are boiled quailed eggs coated with an orange batter and deep-fried until the batter is crispy served with a sweet and sour sauce. This is categorized as a street food and are sold along with fish balls, squid balls, and chicken balls. It was very delicious and I like it! The price is about 20 – 30 Pesos (depend on the amount each stitch).

I was very happy to stay at the QAC Department. They were very nice and always would make me and gita know lots of things about the Philippines.

Wednesday, 27 February 2019. My twelfth day in Philippines.. I went to the Venvi office to had my internship as before. I got an assignment to make an audit checklist again. This was for the Leasing, VYV, 365 Department (Parts of Venvi Development Corporation / VDC). Yes.. it was more than before because I had to learn all of their procedures manual and it was a little bit complicated. But I’m sure that I could finish it. After I finished making the audit checklist, mam Dulce corrected it and print the files. After lunch we went for the auditing, but we only could do the two departments because the time was not enough. They were 365 and Leasing department and we would continue on the next day for the VYV department.

Auditing

Auditing is not as difficult as I thought, we just need to understand about the ISO and the whole procedure manual of every department. We can do it if we really want to understand it. Fight for everything.. haha

Prepared for 7’s audit..

As I said before, that 7’s is a new system in the Venvi Group Companies and the QAC Department was as the one who should handle it. To start the implementation of 7’s the QAC department do the audit for itself department, Marketing & HR Department. The auditor is representative of every department that already done the 7’s training & seminar. And… the audit for 7’s at QAC Department would hold on February 29, 2019. So, on Thursday 28 February, 2019 we had a General Cleaning. General Cleaning means that we had to clean overall of our department and apply the 7’s. We cleaned every part of our room, arranged the equipment based on the function, filling documents, and made our department looks very neat. The employees at QAC Department are very thorough, they cleaned detailed all of the parts of the room. I thought that they would get a good score of the audit. I was very happy to be there with people who are very diligent and conscientious. During the general cleaning we also help each other and have some fun talked. They also made some toast to eat after the general cleaning.

After General Cleaning

After done with the general cleaning, I continued my audit to the Venvi Development Corporation (VDC). The one that I hadn’t audit was VYV. I am done the audit acommpanied by mam Dulce and meet mam Ginalyn S. Peralta as the Auditee. VYV has already met the requirements of the ISO 9001:2015 properly and just need to clear some document for it. After the audit I completed the monitoring audit form to be checked by mam Dulce.as usual.. I back from the office at about 5:00 p.m. When went home, I stopped by at the market to buy some ingredients to cook at the office.

Welcome March and Goodbye QAC Department…

Yaaaa.. Sadly, this was my last day in the QAC Department on Friday, 1 March 2019. I thought that time was flying so fast, I felt that I just came to this department 2 days ago but in the fact it has already 2 weeks. Yes… I got lots of experiences in this department, learnt many things that I never know before, and also got many kind teachers (the seniors). I really want to stay longer to get more knowledges, but I had to enrol to another department to know more about the whole company.

As the farewell, I and Gita cooked Indonesian foods for lunch together with all QAC employees and they also cooked for us the Filipino foods. Before starting to cook, we went to the San Nicolas Market to buy some ingredients that we need. The Indonesian foods that we cooked was Gudangan (a dish consisting of a variety of vegetables are boiled and served with grated coconut sauce) and bakwan (Indonesian fried meal consisting of vegetables and butter. Bakwan usually refers to a vegetable fritter snack, commonly sold by gorengan (Indonesian fritter) traveling street vendors). We also served the peanut sauce as the complementary. They cooked for us filipino foods which were adobo (a type of Filipino chicken stew. Chicken pieces are marinated in soy sauce and spices, pan-fried, and stewed until tender) and pokpoklo (an iron-rich seaweed with round but slim branches. Eaten raw with slices of tomato and/or green mango. It is a delightful salad and eating this dish, literally, you can smell the freshness sea and the saltiness of seawater. Fresh seaweed tastes a little bit of saltiness and crunchiness for every bite). After all of the foods were to serve, we had our lunch together… hwaaa… it was the best moment, I felt like home. Eating together and share each other.

Eat lunch together

Because they knew that me and Gita like spicy food, they also brought a chili oil (a condiment made from vegetable oil that has been infused with chili peppers). It just like sambal in Indonesia and it was really treating my longing for Indonesia. I like it so much. They also gave us to bring home.. yeaayy..  they also like our foods. We already made the food not spicy, because they don’t like spicy food. But, the taste was still good. For the dessert we ate hawaiian mango with alamang (Filipino for shrimp paste, made from the same Acetes shrimp as in Indonesian and Malaysian variants (known in Filipino/Tagalog as alamang) and is commonly eaten as a topping on green mangoes or used as a major cooking ingredient). The hawaiian mango is very delicious. Even if it wasn’t cooked yet, the taste was sweet without any sour taste.

Hawaiian Manggo & Alamang

After we had lunch, we have to clean it all because would there a 7’s audit. The most thing I like was that Filipino is very diligent, have good cooperation and mutual help. So, every job feels easy to do. When the 7’s audit done, the QAC department was held a meeting with the 7’s representative to review the implementation of 7’s. At the end of the day, we said goodbye to every employee and sharing about our experiences when in QAC. I told about my impression when joined the QAC Department and they also gave me some impression and message. Ooh.. It was too hard to leave them. I want to stay longer. They were very memorable for me.
